Please take a moment to read through these Terms & Conditions before our technician begins any work on your appliance. Once you authorize work to begin—verbally, in writing, by signature, or through our online intake—you confirm that you have read these terms and agree to be bound by them.
Effective Date: January 1, 2026 · Applicable to all service calls within New York State.
1. Non-Refundable Diagnostic Service Fee
A non-refundable diagnostic service fee applies to every non-warranty visit, whether the property is residential or commercial. We quote the fee out loud before we dispatch a technician and it covers travel time to your address on Long Island, the on-site inspection, and the written diagnosis our certified technician hands you at the end of the call.
By authorizing the visit, you agree that:
The diagnostic fee is owed in full at the conclusion of the visit, whether or not you choose to proceed with the recommended repair.
If you approve the quoted repair on the same visit, the diagnostic fee is credited in full toward the labor portion of the final invoice.
Accepted payment methods are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and personal checks made out to Soundview Appliance Pros.
2. Service Estimate & Scope of Work
Before any repair begins, our technician presents a written estimate listing the parts, labor and scope of work needed to restore your appliance. Approving the estimate—by signature, verbal confirmation or text-message reply—binds you to the price and the scope as written. New York State sales tax is included where applicable. Any additional work uncovered after disassembly will be presented as a separate estimate and will not proceed without your renewed approval.
3. Your Right to Cancel (New York)
In keeping with New York consumer protection rules, you may cancel any signed repair authorization within three (3) business days of authorizing the work, without penalty or obligation, provided the repair has not yet been performed. To cancel, call us at (255) 444-4444 or mail written notice to the address listed below.
Cancellations made after work has been performed are subject to the diagnostic fee, the cost of any parts already installed or special-ordered, and labor for hours already worked. Emergency repairs—where you specifically request same-day completion—waive the three-day cancellation window for the work performed, but not for the diagnostic fee.
4. Limited 90-Day Warranty
Soundview Appliance Pros warrants that the repair labor we perform, and the replacement parts we supply, will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for ninety (90) days from the date of service. If the same fault returns within that window, notify us in writing or by phone and we will, at our sole discretion, redo the workmanship at no additional labor charge, replace the defective part, or refund the amount you paid for that specific repair. All warranty claims are subject to inspection and approval by our technician.
This warranty does NOT cover:
A new fault unrelated to the original repair
Commercial or industrial-use appliances
Cosmetic damage and non-functional trim
Water supply lines, drain lines, and gas shut-off valves
Appliances relocated after our service visit
Damage from power surges, flooding, or storm events
Customer-supplied parts (we install them on an as-is basis)
Appliances whose manufacturers no longer produce replacement parts
Warranty coverage is conditional on full payment of all amounts owed under the approved estimate. Unpaid invoices void the warranty until the balance is settled.
5. Limitation of Liability
Soundview Appliance Pros pursues the highest standards of workmanship on every Long Island service call. Even so, we will not be held liable for special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages—including lost food, lost business income or property loss—arising out of breach of warranty, breach of contract, negligence, or any other legal theory connected to this agreement. Our total cumulative liability for any claim is strictly limited to the amount you actually paid Soundview Appliance Pros for the specific service in question.
6. Complete Agreement & Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions, together with each individual service order and signed estimate, form the entire agreement between you and Soundview Appliance Pros. They supersede every prior or contemporaneous understanding—written or oral. This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute arising under it will be resolved in the courts of Nassau County or Suffolk County, New York.
7. Release of Liability Clauses
Appliance repair carries certain unavoidable risks. By authorizing work, you acknowledge and accept the following limited releases.
a. Appliance Relocation
Pulling a refrigerator, range or laundry unit out from a tight Long Island kitchen or laundry closet can scuff hardwood, scratch vinyl, dent baseboards or chip tile. Our technicians are not obligated to relocate any appliance, but if they do so as a courtesy in order to access the unit for service, you release Soundview Appliance Pros and the individual technician from liability for any incidental marks to flooring, cabinetry, walls or countertops that result from the move.
b. Plumbing & Water Connections
Water lines, drain hoses and shut-off valves connected to dishwashers, refrigerators and laundry appliances can fail at any time, especially when older fittings are disturbed. You agree not to hold Soundview Appliance Pros or the technician responsible for any leak, drip or flooding originating from existing plumbing connections—absent demonstrated negligence by our staff. Where existing valves or hoses appear unsafe, we will recommend replacement before proceeding.
c. Refrigeration Equipment & Food Loss
Refrigerators, freezers, wine coolers and ice makers contain sealed-system components that can fail without warning during or shortly after a repair. Soundview Appliance Pros cannot guarantee that any refrigeration unit will return to full operation. You acknowledge the risk of food spoilage, beverage loss and—in the case of commercial premises—business inconvenience, and you release Soundview Appliance Pros, its agents and its employees from liability for these outcomes. Once work begins, you waive the right to bring related claims for food or inventory loss.
d. Glass & Ceramic Cooktops
Glass-top and ceramic-top ranges are factory-bonded with strong adhesives. Lifting the cooktop to access the burners, igniters or wiring underneath sometimes results in the glass cracking, even when handled with care by an experienced technician. You acknowledge this risk in advance and release Soundview Appliance Pros, its agents and its employees from liability for any breakage that occurs during routine disassembly, and waive the right to bring related claims.
e. Refrigerant Handling (EPA Section 608)
Sealed-system work on refrigeration appliances is performed exclusively by EPA Section 608–certified technicians, in compliance with federal regulations. When repair requires opening a sealed system, you authorize Soundview Appliance Pros to recover, recycle or replace refrigerant as needed. You agree that any pre-existing leak in the sealed system, low refrigerant charge, or coil corrosion discovered after disassembly is the result of normal wear and is not the responsibility of Soundview Appliance Pros.
f. Gas Appliance Service
Gas ranges, ovens and dryers are reconnected and pressure-tested to the manufacturer's published specifications. You acknowledge that the integrity of the upstream gas line, the shut-off valve and the building's gas supply remain the responsibility of the property owner. If our technician detects an unsafe gas condition, we may decline to complete the work and refer you to your gas utility or a licensed plumbing contractor.
8. Photographs & Customer Privacy
Our technicians may photograph the model and serial plate of your appliance, the fault itself, and any safety concerns observed at the site—strictly for service documentation and warranty claim support. We do not photograph faces, identifying personal effects, or interior rooms beyond the appliance footprint. Service photos remain Soundview Appliance Pros's internal records and are not published or shared without your written permission.
9. Acceptance of Terms
By scheduling a service call with Soundview Appliance Pros, by signing our written estimate, by authorizing work verbally on site, or by replying with an approval message, you confirm that you have read these Terms & Conditions in full and that you accept and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please notify our technician before any work begins so we can stand down without charge beyond the diagnostic fee already disclosed.
